• hard surfaces [clinkers, tiles, concrete, asphalt, timber, etc.] do not need any treatment and artificial grass can simply be rolled over it [holes, cracks or other imperfections should be repaired beforehand];
• gardens should be cleared of weeds and leveled. It is possible, but not necessary, to add a layer of 25 cm of yellow sand which can be compacted with the help of a garden roller. This guarantees a level, permeable surface;
• small sport fields normally require a subsoil of 5 to 10 cm of thick lava 0/16, filled in with a granule of 1 cm 0/3 before being compacted;
• larger sport fields usually need a drainage system consisting of grooves with finely perforated hoses that are each 4 meters in length at an average depth of 60 cm below the surface. The field is then covered with a layer of 40 cm river sand leveled and finished off with border stones and placed in dry concrete mix. On top of that there will be a sport technical layer, which is a layer of 10 cm consisting of a mixture of lava and rubber granules [granules of 4-10 mm] ensuring more uniform cushioning and a more stable base.
